In the photo series ‘Dia Salva’ the photographer Annette Den Ouden focuses on the religious aspect of the lifestyles in N-Mexico, Chiapas and Guatemala. Again we see her fascination with religion expressed in the black and white images. Is she religious?, “No, I’m not religious myself, it’s simply not in my character. I don’t believe in God, I believe in people. The function of religion in the global society fascinates me though, for what it gives to people, for what it takes away and the effects that has on an individual as well as on a global scale. It unites and divides, comforts and destroys. It’s beautiful and repulsive at the same time.”
